The little school with a big fair
IT’S strawberry picking time in Wallington and that can only mean one thing – the annual Wallington Strawberry Fair.
The Strawberry Fair is the oldest of its kind on the Bellarine Peninsula and is the Wallington Primary School’s major fundraiser for the year.
Wallington Primary School may not be very large but it has a proud heritage and an amazing community.
The 100 families who attend the school put on one of the biggest school fairs in the region.
While many other schools have had to adapt families, the little school at Wallington continues its Sunday in March to celebrate the humble strawberry.
This year’s fair offers rides, excellent food, live performances, sporting displays, pony rides, and of course strawberries galore.
Tayla Haigh, Andrea Roberston, Jamie Pye, Elandel and Dazzling Dan – will entertain visitors as they sit back and enjoy gourmet delights from the food tents, along with strawberries served up on pancakes, pavs, homemade jam.
School principal Leigh McLaren said the emphasis was on a fun family event where the community could come together.
The fair is on Sunday March 6 at Wallington Wallington between 10am and 4pm.
People are asked for a gold coin donation on entry, no dogs please.
