The Wombats and friends to groove into Torquay

Australian platinum-selling indie artists The Wombats will headline SummerSalt in Torquay later this year.

The much-loved band will perform at the Torquay Common on September 20 and are sure to rock audiences with a plethora of new tracks from recent album Oh! The Ocean as well as some of their old favourites.

Since emerging as leading lights of the late 2000s indie rock scene, The Wombats have maintained constant momentum.

Second album The Modern Glitch made them top 10 regulars, while Glitterbug and Greek Tragedy both became global sensations.

In 2022, the band achieved their first number one album with Fix Yourself Not the World, seeing them reach more than 2.5 billion streams.

New album Oh! The Ocean was recorded in Echo Park Los Angeles in July last year during six weeks of sessions with new producer John Congleton.

It aims to move audiences with its emotional honesty as it offers a fresh perspective of the band sprinting onwards into a mature new phase.

The Wombats will be joined in Torquay on September 20 by DMA’s, Ball Park Music, Del Water Gap, Bea and her Business and Ra Ra Viper.

DMA’s has recently played massive festival slots at US juggernaut Coachella, Lollapalooza, Splendour in the Grass and English festivals Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds.

In 2019, the band played sold out shows across across Australia, the UK and Ireland and supported Liam Gallagher’s UK arena tour.

The band’s third album The Glow in 2020 debuted at number two on the ARIA Charts, fourth in the UK and number one in Scotland.

Brisbane band Ball Park Music have also had their share of success, with their past five albums consecutively debuting in the top 10 of the ARIA charts.

The band has had regular slots at Falls Festival, Groovin’ the Moo and Splendour in the Grass.

New York City’s Del Water Gap will showcase his panoramic pop hits Losing You and All We Ever Do Is Talk.

Bea and Her Business specialises in captivating pop songs that exude charisma and stage presence.

Influenced by the likes of Lily Allen and Lana Del Ray, Bea is becoming a household name in the UK music scene.

Ra Ra Viper are an alternative/post-surf rock group from Fremantle, known for their energetic performances and emotional storytelling.
