Timeline of classics at the Potato Shed

Opera and ballroom will collide in a gracious performance titled From Broadway to Ballroom at the Potato Shed this month as part of the Geelong Seniors Festival.

Audiences can expect an artistic display of ballroom, opera and classical melodies as seasoned opera performers Liza Beamish and Lachlan Baker star alongside dance champions Emma and Rhett Salmon for this spectacular show.

Songs include “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, The Phantom of the Opera’s “All I Ask of You”, “Bring Him Home” from Les Miserables, “Merry Widow Waltz” by Franz Lehar, Puccini’s “Nessun Dorma” from Turandot, My Fair Lady’s “I Could have Danced All Night”, “You Raise Me Up” and operatic arias from Rigoletto and La Traviata by Verdi.

Emma and Rhett’s renowned dancing style includes jive, tango quickstep and waltz, with both performers locked in to deliver featured solos as well as a visual accompaniment for the singers.

From Broadway to Ballroom is set against star cloth and showcases evocative lighting, a mirror ball, smoke machine and glamorous costumes and gowns.
