TWO Surf Coast mums tired of watching their kids shiver after beach days and swimming lessons have launched their own business.

Lauren McVilly and Kate Earnshaw have spent the past 16 months pouring everything they have into their new business, Kozy and Co.

Preorders are now open for the brand’s own 100 per cent terry towelling unisex onesies ranging in children’s sizes from 0 to 14 with accessories including hats also on offer, with more to come.

The co-founders said they hope people find their products convenient and practical, making transitions from beaches, pools, showers and baths easy.

Along with terry towelling onesies, the brand also makes accessories including hats.

“We’re a small, local business, that’s very family orientated, we’re just here to help families and make mums’ and dads’ lives as easy as possible,” Ms McVilly said.

The pair have found their children all love the products, making holidays by the pool much easier and allowing children to get back on their bikes and into their activities straight after the pool.

“It is so practical because you’re not having to try and dry their legs and put leggings or shorts back on. The kids love them,” Ms Earnshaw said.

The two mums had been searching for a long sleeve towel onsie for their own children and when unsuccessful they made the commitment to creating their own.

With backgrounds in hair and beauty, Ms McVilly and Ms Earnshaw dove into the deep end of their business, taking on the roles of designers and getting to work in creating Kozy and Co.

The onesies are designed by the two owners with the aim of making transitions out of the water more convenient.

The pair went back and forwards with their manufactures, trying a number of different samples to make sure they had the product perfect.

“There was different fabrics, different colours and bonding fabrics together because we wanted velvet on one side, terry towelling on the other side,” Ms Earnshaw said.

“We were trying to find whose got the fabrics we wanted and then also making it oversized – it kept coming back too small.”

At the moment, the business operates online with plans to do pop-up shops in the future and eventually grow to become a stockist in swim schools around Australia.
