A lifechanging day at the races

May 29, 2022 BY

The ice rink at Armstrong and Sturt streets is back.

MORE than 300 people attended the Surf Coast Times Torquay Cup raising $10,000 to support the work of LifeChanger Foundation, a preventative mental health and wellbeing non-profit that empowers young people to live thriving, resilient lives.

Murray Bingham hosted the event on Friday, May 20, as patrons enjoyed a three-course meal at the Geelong Racing Club.

Times News Group managing director Warick Brown hailed the day as a successful way of reconnecting the Surf Coast, Geelong and Bellarine community.

“Friday was another amazing event at the Geelong Racing Club and we can’t thank our generous sponsors and businesses enough for their donations and attendance on the day,” Mr Brown said.

“Once again, it was great to get everyone together in the one place for a really important cause like supporting LifeChanger and their mental health and wellbeing advocacy.

“We’ve absolutely love working with LifeChanger and look forward to learning more and assisting them into the future.”

Guests who bought tickets for the major raffle were greeted with some amazing prizes, as donated by kind sponsors.

All proceeds from the major raffle also went towards LifeChanger’s work.

The luncheon wrapped up with a performance by DJ Amber Arnold, as the room danced the night away.

The winner of the 1400m Surf Coast Times Torquay Cup BM64 Handicap was Netanyahu, jockeyed by John Allen.

Azoustic finished in second and Fast Melody came in third.
