THIS year’s holiday cheer in Aireys Inlet will be sure to delight superhero fans.

The annual community carols will centre the nativity story but with a modern-day twist, premiering the tale of how famous superheroes discover the Lord’s saviour, baby Jesus, who may save the world before they do.

Mary Bremner, one of the event organisers, said a group of children from the Aireys Inlet primary school were excitedly preparing for the play.

“The Christmas story has never been told quite like this before, but the message of the coming of Jesus to bring God’s love to the world is there,” she said.

Organised by the combined churches of Aireys Inlet – Anglican, Catholic and Uniting – the town’s choir “Black with a Dash” will perform with a band of local musicians to sing Christmas carols.

In partnership with Uniting Care, event organisers are asking guests to bring along a Christmas gift or financial donation to be distributed to struggling families in the area.

The evening will be hosted at the Aireys Inlet Community Hall on Sunday December 2 from 7.30pm.

A gold coin donation on entry will cover expenses.
