CAMERA crews at Anglesea have set local tongues wagging, as an ABC comedy series starts filming at picturesque coastal locations.

Producers Gristmill have begun shooting for an eight-part pathology series Summer Love, which will feature local favourites beamed around Australia when the show hits screens later this year.

Creators and award-winning comedy pair Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope are best known for their previous shows Upper Middle Bogan, Very Small Business and The Librarians.

Ms Butler and Mr Hope have brought together eight writing teams for the series, which they said would create a perfect post-pandemic entertainment recipe.

“Summer Love sees eight very different sets of people rent the same beachside holiday house, capturing the collision between the dreamy enchantment of the beach and the clumsy reality of humans on holiday.

“It explores the anonymity, the possibility, and the escape that we all feel on holidays, alongside the ever-present threat of sand in the sheets.”

Ms Butler and Mr Hope said Anglesea provided the perfect setting to tell the Summer Love story.

“We’ve been holidaying here for over20 years and we love it. It’s our favourite stretch of coast and was our first choice for shooting this series – we hope the many other Australians who enjoy this beautiful part of Australia connect with the show,” the duo said.

The producers have promised some favourite local landmarks would make an appearance when the show airs, including the pole house, Split Point lighthouse, favourite beaches, restaurants and cafes and the Great Ocean Road.
