Access for all at Apollo Bay
FREE hire of beach mobility equipment is now available in Apollo Bay, further enhancing beach accessibility for people of all abilities.
A range of accessible equipment including hoists, beach wheelchairs, walkers and matting can be booked via a new self-service booking system.
The equipment will be located near the existing beach matting to further improve access and inclusion on the coast.
Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority acting director environment and coastal operations, Leia Howqes said everyone should have the chance to enjoy the coast.
“This program is about opening up the Great Ocean Road’s stunning beaches to more people. We hope the community embraces these new resources and makes full use of them.
“From Torquay to Port Campbell, we’re proud to provide hoists, accessible wheelchairs, parking, and matting—ensuring people of all abilities can experience the beach.”
Currently mobility equipment is also accessible at Fishermans Beach in Torquay, Anglesea Riverbank, Point Roadknight, Lorne Beach, Port Campbell and Apollo Bay.
