Access re-opened at Marengo Beach
THE Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (the Authority) has repaired and reopened a Marengo beach access after tides damaged the staircase two weeks ago.
The improvement works which were officially completed this week included the addition of new timber treads and the extension of the handrail down to the beach.
The authority said the recent erosion was “unusual” and a combination of high tides and large swells had been responsible for the damage to the access point.
Apollo Bay and Marengo Beach are known hot spots for coastal erosion and the authority will continue to review their erosion management plans for the area.
