AGFG voters love Surf Coast restaurants

MORE than a dozen restaurants from along the Surf Coast have won the popular vote in this year’s Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) Readers’ Choice Awards.

The awards, announced annually, are designed to give the Australian public the opportunity to vote for their favourite establishments throughout the year.

There were 24 awards presented to restaurants across the Great Ocean Road region.

AGFG diners voted Torquay restaurant Doc Hughes as their favourite modern Australian venue.

Paying homage to the rich history of the building and bringing a new dining experience to Torquay, Doc Hughes delivers fresh food made with passion and is best known for its fish and chips.

Located in The Esplanade close to highly popular family beach Cosy Corner, this former general store is named after its original owner.

Other local restaurants to win Reader’s Choice awards in their categories were:

Burger – Gypy Burger in Torquay

Cafe – Pond Cafe in Torquay

Coffee – The Salty Dog Cafe in Torquay

Dessert – Nordenfine Ice Cream in Torquay

Fusion – Love House in Anglesea

Greek – Ipsos in Lorne

Indian – Raas Leela Lorne in Lorne

Italian – Casalingo in Apollo Bay

Japanese – Roku Den in Torquay

Pizza – Town & Country Pizza and Pasta in Torquay North

Seafood – Fisho’s Torquay in Torquay

Steak – Squires Loft Torquay in Torquay

Thai – HugSiam Thai in Torquay, and

Vietnamese – Phoklore Torquay in Torquay.

There were also three regional awards, with Torquay’s 4 Pines x Boardriders Torquay winning in the bars category.

Each establishment’s AGFG listing has a “Vote Now” button. The establishment with the most votes in their respective category and region over a 12-month period will win a Readers’ Choice Award, with awards broken up by establishment type and region.
