Aireys carols to build a message of peace

December 2, 2022 BY

Pupils from Aireys Inlet Primary School will perform in the event.

THIS weekend’s Aireys Inlet Community Carols will spruik the benefit of inclusion, with this year’s nativity play highlighting the many places in the world where misguided attempts have been made to create peace by building walls.

One of the event organisers, Mary Bremner, said pupils from Aireys Inlet Primary School were excited to be able to take part in the play after a two-year break.

“The neighbours next to the stable in Bethlehem, where Jesus is born, call for a wall to be built so they can get some peace,” she said.

“By the end of the play, they realise that there’s no need for the wall, because Jesus came to teach peace to the world.

“It’s a fun way of telling the traditional Christmas story,” Mary Bremner added.

As well as the play, a band of local musicians will accompany the singing of favourite carols.

The carols and nativity play are returning after a two-year break.

Organisers from the Aireys Inlet Uniting Church are asking everyone who comes along to bring a Christmas gift or financial donation, to be distributed through Barwon Uniting to families in the district who are doing it tough at this time of year.

The Aireys Inlet Community Carols will take place in the Aireys Inlet Community Hall this Sunday, December 4, from 7.30pm.

Entry will be by gold coin donation to cover expenses.
