THE 2022 Aireys Inlet Open Mic Music Festival has been postponed due to the escalating COVID-19 situation along the Surf Coast.

With case numbers on the rise, the festival directors of the Aireys Inlet Open Mic Music Festival have decided to postpone the 2022 festival, originally scheduled for March 18, until further notice.

Festival director Marty Maher said the decision, while unfortunate, was particularly necessary in light of the infectious nature of Omicron.

“The main reason is the infectious nature of Omicron in crowds,” Mr Maher said.

“We have indoor venues as well as outdoor venues, and with a lot of the business being pretty exhausted at the moment with the staff shortages we just thought it best to put it on pause at the moment and monitor the situation for now.”

Musicians who have already expressed interest in performing will be contacted directly.
