Aldi to open its doors by the end of the year

June 20, 2018 BY

Works are well underway on Torquay’s newest supermarket, which is set to open this year.

Construction is full steam ahead on the much-awaited Torquay Aldi store in the West Coast Business Park after nearly 10 years of searching for a site in Torquay.

With multiple site possibilities identified over the years, starting with Zeally Bay Road, Bristol Road, Rudd Avenue among several others, Aldi has now found its perfect fit among the multitude of nation brand and local businesses that make up the West Coast Business Park.

With existing anchor tenants like Bunnings boasting a gateway position, an international branded supermarket with 10,000 stores worldwide and more than 500 within Australia, Aldi will be a great boost to the West Coast Business Park and the businesses within.

An Aldi Australia spokesperson confirmed that Aldi Torquay will open in the second half of 2018 with the new store being approximately 1,100sqm in retail size, with around 100 car spaces and to be supported by a team of 15-20 permanent full and part-time employees.

Once open, Torquay shoppers will have access to Aldi’s award-winning grocery products and popular Special Buys, together with fresh fruit, vegetables and bread delivered daily.

The store will feature a number of innovations, including increased space for fresh produce, better product displays, improved navigation and a modern interior store design.

Aldi Australia said that they were proud to partner with several charities nationally such as Foodbank, as well as Second Bite in Victoria, citing their stores and distribution centres support local community groups in their respective areas, distributing quality surplus food to help those most in need.
