All Aboard morning teas strengthen community bonds
MORNING teas held recently are being hailed as a success, with more community members benefitting from ongoing discussions around disability support on the Surf Coast.
As part of All Aboard disABILITY Support Services’ mission to foster community connections, provide vocational opportunities, and raise vital funds, the service hosts regular fundraising morning teas at their venue in Torquay.
All Aboard co-founder Kate Marshall said the teas had become a beloved fixture, offering a welcoming and warm environment where guests are greeted with gratitude and a chance to build meaningful connections.
“The participants from All Aboard’s cooking program play a vital role in these gatherings, preparing a variety of delicious treats to accompany freshly brewed coffee and other hot drinks.
“The event also serves as a vocational learning experience, with participants taking on roles as wait staff, interacting respectfully and engaging in friendly conversations with guests.
“These opportunities help build confidence and enhance the participants’ social and work skills.”
Last week’s morning tea welcomed a group of women from Ocean Mist Aged Care, who got to enjoy a performance by All Aboard’s Auslan Signing Choir, See Me Sing.
Guests eagerly participated in a fundraising raffle to help increase the morning tea’s proceeds amount, with all contributions going directly towards All Aboard’s efforts to continue their work empowering adults with disabilities to continue contributing to the community.
