All About Art exhibition brushes to success
A COMMUNITY art exhibition has helped to raise over $15,000 for Geelong-based brain cancer research organisation Peace of Mind.
The third annual All About Art showcase was held last weekend with more than 300 people coming through to buy artworks from 16 local creatives.
A total of $32,000 worth of art was sold across the three days of the exhibition, with artists choosing to donate 20 per cent of their profits to give support, courage and community to brain cancer patients, their carers, family and loved ones.
A grand opening function and a fundraising dinner also supported the charity, with all funds going directly towards the cause.
Curator Roe Clapham said the exhibition again far exceeded expectations.
“It went absolutely terrific, and while the weather caused us a bit of havoc, it was a great success,” she said.
“To sell over $32,000 of art, with more than $15,000 of which going to charity is just a fantastic outcome.
“An event like this supports so many people in different ways, and to see some of the patients of Peace of Mind come and visit the exhibition was very special.
“Sunday was jam-packed, it was full to the brim, we couldn’t believe how many came through. We lost count!
“We were letting the artwork go as they purchased it, and it was looking pretty empty by the afternoon.”
Ms Clapham said the event would certainly be back in 2024, with the hope of going even bigger and better to support local patients particularly facing an uncertain future.
