AMERICAN surfer and former world No. 2, Lakey Peterson, and her partner, Tom Allan, have secured a home just a stone’s throw from Bells Beach.

The $2 million Bellbrae property changed hands earlier this month, on the eve of Peterson’s quarter-final appearance at the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach.

Set on 8.8 acres (3.5ha), the sanctuary-style holding combines space, privacy and easy coastal access. The four-bedroom residence has been thoughtfully extended and updated over time, evolving into a warm and functional family retreat.

Belle Property senior sales agent David Sprague said the purchase had been more than a year in the making.

“We are obviously thrilled to get the sale and see Tom and Lakey keen to make it their forever home just down the road from Bells,” Sprague said.

“Tom’s parents live in the area and came through early days to check it out while the couple were in California.

“Tom and Lakey came to see it before Bells and just loved it, and the opportunity to grow and expand.

“They’re a lovely, personable couple, and they’ve got some great plans for the home.”

Sprague said properties of this scale and style could be challenging to sell in the current market.

“Unless it’s a state-of-the-art resort home, they are hard to sell, but gladly with this one, the opportunity was large,” he said.

“It’s an old home, with good bones and plenty of opportunities to grow.”
