Roads to close for Amy’s Gran Fondo this weekend
RIDERS of all ages will take part in the annual Amy’s Gran Fondo cycling event on the Great Ocean Road this weekend, and drivers have been asked to be aware of several road closures.
Amy’s Gran Fondo is held in memory of Amy Gillett and conducted by the Amy Gillett Foundation. Participants raise much needed funds to help the Amy Gillett Foundation create a safe bike riding environment in Australia.
The event begins on Saturday, September 14 with the Amy’s Gravel Fondo and Amy’s Walll events. There will be road closures at:
- Allenvale Road, Lorne from 9am-3pm
- Benwerrin-Mount Sabine Road between Erskine Falls Road and Cowley Track from 9am-3pm
- Bay Street in Lorne between Mountjoy Parade and Charles Street from 2.30-8pm.
On Sunday, September 15, the Great Ocean Road will be closed in both directions between Lorne and Apollo Bay from 9am-3.30pm for Amy’s Gran Fondo, Amy’s Family Fondo and Amy’s Medio Fondo events. Road closures will also be in place at:
- Deans Marsh-Lorne Road between the Great Ocean Road and Birregurra-Deans Marsh Road from 7-10.30am
- Birregurra-Deans Marsh Road between Deans Marsh-Lorne Road and Birregurra-Forrest Road from 7.30-11am
- Birregurra-Forrest Road between Birregurra-Deans Marsh Road and Colac-Forrest Road between 8.30am-noon
- Forrest-Apollo Bay Road between Colac-Forrest Road and Skenes Creek Road between 9am-1.30pm
- Skenes Creek Road between Forrest-Apollo Bay Road and the Great Ocean Road between 9am-2pm.
Drivers must obey all road rules and follow the instructions of Victoria Police and traffic controllers along the course. Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
