SINCE 2013, Ocean Grind has been roasting and supplying specialty coffee for homes, cafes and shops along the Surf Coast.

Its roastery and cafe space has become a popular haven away from the busier parts of Torquay, serving beautiful coffee alongside a range of sweet treats, toasties and wraps.

Customers can enjoy the vast warehouse-style space indoors or relax in the undercover dog-friendly area outside.

Quality is the main priority at Ocean Grind, with owner and head roaster Mark Clatworthy passionate about showcasing the product.

The friendly team also loves helping customers get the most from their coffee at home.

“We like to make coffee approachable for everyone and help advise people how to improve their coffee at home, as well as encouraging customers to try different blends or brew methods,” Clatworthy said.

The shop stocks Ocean Grind’s full range of coffee blends, which can be ground on the spot to suit individual brewing methods, along with a range of coffee-making equipment and accessories.

Ocean Grind’s roastery and cafe at Sawmills Way has become a popular destination for coffee lovers across the Surf Coast.

The business is also preparing to relaunch its popular home barista training workshops, with updates to be shared via social media.

Alongside a passion for coffee, Ocean Grind has a strong sustainability ethos.

The business has invested in a Loring air roaster that uses 80 per cent less CO2 than a traditional roaster, resulting in cleaner-tasting coffee that is also better for the environment.

Ocean Grind ditched single-use coffee cups in 2019 and encourages customers to bring their own containers for coffee bean refills, offering a $1 discount.

Used coffee grounds are also repurposed for gardens.

Ocean Grind is located at 2 Sawmills Way, Torquay, and is open Monday to Friday from 7am to 2pm and Saturdays from 8am to 1pm.
