Anglesea Art House celebrate 37th exhibition in style

THE Anglesea Art House has wrapped up the 37th anniversary of their annual art exhibition in style, with a record number of entrants exhibiting their works across three locations over the long weekend.

Held at the Anglesea Memorial Hall and the neighbouring Anglesea Art Space and Art House, the exhibition attracted more than 300 entries from both established and emerging creatives across mediums including paintings, prints, ceramics, glass, textiles and photography.

The three-day showcase kicked off with an awards ceremony and music on Friday evening at the Anglesea Memorial Hall before the exhibition itself took centre stage from Saturday onwards.

Geelong local Ian Duncan was once again lauded for his artistic excellence and won back-to-back titles for Best in Show and Best Oil piece.

Anglesea Art House president Jennifer O’Sullivan said the 37th annual art extravaganza was well received by the local community.

“It was fantastic to see so many entries once again this year from our dedicated members.

“It was almost like us having our own mini arts trail with the three separate venues, we really enjoyed that part of it.

“The quality of works was beautiful; we were very impressed.

“All three venues were very well attended which we were also stoked about.”

Mrs O’Sullivan said the Anglesea Art House team were humbled the event continues to be a drawcard for locals after almost forty years.

“We hope to continue to grow it so that more and more of our members can show off their artistic brilliance.

“We’ve only just made a 3D and photography division for the exhibition, so we also hope to grow those category as well.

“It continues to be a really successful and wonderful community event that we are privileged to host.”
