Anglesea footy strategy supported by grant

November 29, 2017 BY

THE Anglesea Football and Netball Club is receiving $5,000 towards its strategic plan through a state government grant.

The club is among those sharing in more than half a million dollars in the first round of the 2017-18 Sporting Club Grants Program.

Under the program, clubs receive grants in one of four categories to assist in the purchase of sports uniforms and equipment, to improve the capacity and accessibility of Victorian clubs and other community sport and recreation organisations, or to increase the skills of their coaches, officials and managers.

The Anglesea FNC received its funding in the “Club Operational Capacity” category.

Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney announced the first round of grants last week.

“Grassroots sports clubs are the heart and soul of many towns throughout western Victoria, including here in Anglesea,” she said.

“They bring people together and create healthier, happier and more united communities, and they’re the launching pad of our next generation of champions.”

More than 340 clubs successfully applied for funding across the state in this round.

“We know the cost of uniforms or equipment can often stop kids from playing the sport they love – this funding exists to break down this barrier,” Ms Tierney said.

“From new team uniforms to coaching programs, we’re giving grassroots sports clubs in Western Victoria the support they need to grow their ranks, be more competitive and help more people than ever play the sports they love.”

“We are proud of our clubs and the vital role they play in bringing together our community.”
