ANGLESEA’S Naantali Marshall won three gold medals at the first day of the Aussie Masters in Broadbeach, Queensland.

The former Ironwoman competitor won the 40-44-year-old board, swim and Ironwoman events, proving her worthy status as a fine role model in championship competitions.

“I’ve actually only done two masters competitions since I retired in 2006, but I was actually racing in open and professionally until I was 31. I suppose it’s been 13 years now, but I take Nipper training and things like that so I suppose
I’m on my board enough to stay in touch,” she said in an interview on the sand after her wins.

Marshall also competed in a team event in the Masters, scoring the runner-up title in the 140 years female beach relay with fellow Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club representatives Ilona Carson, Sally Cumming and Naomi Symington.

Marshall returned to Ironwoman racing in 2014 after a nine-year hiatus and scored bronze in the Coolangatta Gold, one of the most challenging endurance races in surf sports.
