Anglesea newsagent finalists for top state gong
ANGLESEA News and Lotto is the toast of the town after again being named finalists in the Victorian Authorised Newsagent Association (VANA) Awards.
Owners Corinne and Paul Nigro have been nominated for Victorian Newsagent of the Year and My Local Community Newsagent of the Year.
Ms Nigro has also been individually nominated for the Businesswoman of the Year by VANA.
The Anglesea institution has been a finalist in the two major categories for the past three years, and won the Victorian My Local Newsagent of the Year award in 2022.
Ms Nigro said the team was chuffed with their recent nominations.
“It’s an honour to be nominated, especially for the community award, which is what we are all about.
“We are thrilled our involvement as a newsagent has been recognised in this way among the best in the state.
“The nominations, particularly the businesswoman of the year one came as a bit of a surprise, but its all very lovely recognition.”
Ms and Mr Nigro have owned the Anglesea News and Lotto for nine years, and previously ran shops in Torquay and Melbourne.
On top of their commitments at the newsagent, Corinne is vice-president of Business Anglesea and Paul is president of the Anglesea Football Netball Club.
“We do work hard, but it’s very enjoyable because of our community,” Mr Nigro said.
“It’s a social hub in here at the newsagent. Football and netball have a huge heart, but people also just love dropping in for a chat.
“We just love what we do.”
The winners of the VANA Awards will be announced at the Victorian Arts Centre on September 14.
