Anglesea roundabout design revealed

March 3, 2016 BY

VICROADS has revealed its preferred design for Camp Road roundabout in Anglesea.

The road authority originally sought community last year, and presented its single proposed option at an information session at the Anglesea Bowls Club last week.

Key elements of the design include: Duplicating lanes of the existing roundabout on the Great Ocean Road at Camp Road, Duplicating the Great Ocean Road approaches to the roundabout for approximately 60-70 metres – this will increase capacity and reduce delays for drivers travelling through the roundabout during busy periods Great Ocean Road at the existing crossing location (next to the public toilets) to provide a safer crossing point for pedestrians – determined to be the safest crossing option in assisting the Great Ocean Road, and Creating dedicated cycling lanes on the Great Ocean Road to enhance safety.

The existing roundabout can only cope with during peak visitor periods such as the summer and delays.

could be up to 22,000 vehicles passing through the intersection a day at peak times.

“We’re working with the local community to get the solution right.

will mean emergency services can access communities in need during emergency situations.”
