THE popular Anglesea Twilight Farmers Markets are back again to finish off 2021 and begin 2022 with outdoor limits a thing of the past.

The markets, which are held on the first and third Friday of each month from November to March will provide an opportunity for local growers and producers to sell their goods.

They will also give people the chance to get to know where their food comes from and get to know the farmers and producers.

Anglesea Community House (ACH), the organisers of the markets, said there will be stalls selling bread and other baked goodies such Otway beef and pork.

“The markets provide a great opportunity for people to come along for shopping, dinner and enjoy some live music from local musicians,” ACH program coordinator Marcelle Renkin said.

“The atmosphere at the markets is very family friendly, the sounds of local musicians create a great backdrop for catching up, shopping, grabbing dinner.”

The Anglesea Twilight Farmers Markets has been a local favourite since it was first produced by James McClennan two years ago.

In 2019, the markets began as a pilot project to build community and respond to community needs, in line with ACH’s core values.

After a successful pilot season in 2019, ACH were granted a license by the Surf Coast Shire to hold markets over the November to March season. In 2021, Mic Stapleton took over management of the market.

“We love welcoming part time residents and visitors to our market and are grateful to all those that come out to support our community event,” Ms Renkin said.

The next Twilight Market is set for Friday, December 17, where visitors can catch The Christmas Carolvaners, projecting Christmas cheer as they wander through the market singing.

The address of the markets is in the carpark of the ACH on 5 McMillan Street in Anglesea. The markets run from 4.30pm to 8pm.
