Police have made a third arrest as investigations continue into a fatal house fire in Norlane earlier this week.

The latest development comes after a woman died in the early hours of Tuesday morning, with emergency services called to a block of units on Thompson Road about 3am on March 31.

Arson and Explosives Squad detectives arrested a 23-year-old Norlane man at his home about 9am on Wednesday. He will now be interviewed by investigators.

The arrest follows two men being taken into custody on Tuesday. A 35-year-old Norlane man and a 38-year-old Breakwater man have since been released pending further enquiries.

Fire crews brought the blaze under control before locating an unresponsive woman inside one of the properties.

Despite efforts by emergency responders, she could not be revived at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.

Police say the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation, with specialist detectives continuing to examine evidence.

The incident has continued to shock the Norlane community, with multiple arrests now forming part of the ongoing probe.

Authorities are again urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam or CCTV footage, to come forward.

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online.
