ANTICIPATION is building among the surf community ahead of today’s (December 7) inaugural Great Ocean Road Women’s Surf Festival in Lorne.

The two-day all-inclusive event will provide opportunities for women’s surfers of all backgrounds and experiences to celebrate their love for the ocean.

More than 25 activities and special events are slated for the weekend, headlined by surf sessions, movie nights and coaching workshops.

Last night (Friday, December 6), a welcome event will take place at Lorne Community Connect at 2 Otway Street, Lorne.

Attendees joined Gail Couper and fellow community members to view a woman in surfing exhibition collated by the Lorne Historical Society, the Australian National Surf Museum and Murray Walding.

Surfing Victoria general manager Elley Harrison said excitement was high for the rest of the event.

“We are truely excited to be hosting the first every Great Ocean Road Womens Surf Fest presented by Ghanda this weekend.

“The festival will have something for everyone with free surf lessons, market, workshops, surf competition and more.

“We hope to see women and girls from all across the state come and get involved in what should be a fun weekend in Lorne.”
