Anzac Day to be commemorated next week
AUSTRALIANS will stop and remember all those who served next week as Anzac Day commemorations are held across the country.
Local services on Thursday, April 25 include:
• Anglesea: 9.30am – march begins, corner Noble Street and Great Ocean Road. 10am – service and wreath laying, RSL, 30 Murray Road
• Apollo Bay: 6am – dawn service, corner Great Ocean Road and Nelson Street. 10.45am – march begins, corner Great Ocean Road and Moore Street. 11am – service and wreath laying, corner Great Ocean Road and Nelson Street
• Beech Forest: 11am – Service, Beech Forest Hall, Main Street
• Geelong: 4.15am – pre-dawn service and wreath laying followed by breakfast, Johnstone Park. Breakfast at Geelong RSL Sub-Branch, 50 Barwon Heads Road, Belmont. 5.50am – Geelong and District Vietnam Veterans Association dawn service, Eastern Beach. 6.30am – Kardinia Rotary Boer War Memorial, Kilgour Street (off Latrobe Terrace) service, followed by morning tea (20th anniversary of service. 9am – wreath laying at the Cenotaph, Geelong RSL Sub-Branch, Belmont. 9am – Anzac Day Mass, St Mary of the Angels Basilica. 10am – March, form up at corner Malop Street and Yarra Street for 11am. 11am – commemorative service, Johnstone Park
• Lorne: 6.30am – gunfire breakfast, Leopold War Memorial. 11am – service, march to Anzac Memorial Park, for wreath laying ceremony, RSL Sub-Branch club room, Lorne Hotel.
• Torquay: 5.45am – march begins, corner The Esplanade and Price Street. 6am – dawn service, Point Danger. 7.05am – gunfire breakfast
• Winchelsea: 10am – service, parade and wreath laying, Eastern Reserve, followed by refreshments
There will also be two services on Wednesday, April 24 – at the Forrest Memorial Hall at 9.30am and at the Birregurra War Memorial at noon.
