Applications open for GORCC’s grants

February 6, 2019 BY

Friends of Cosy Corner are a previous recipient of a GORCC Coastal Grant.

THE Great Ocean Road Coast Committee’s (GORCC) 2019 Coastal Grants Program is now open.

Each year, GORCC dedicates funds for community-led projects that enhance the natural values of the 37 kilometres of coastal Crown land under its management between Point Impossible and Cumberland River.

GORCC chief executive officer Vanessa Schernickau said the grants aimed to encourage proactive environmental and heritage protection along the coast.

“This is a fantastic way to engage and partner with community groups who are addressing environmental issues in their community and inspiring change for future generations.”

She praised volunteer groups for their tireless commitment to the environment and coastal conservation.

“These groups do amazing work to preserve and protect our environment along the Great Ocean Road. Their work benefits the entire community and is more important than ever in the face of current environmental challenges.”

Previous grant rounds have funded a diverse range of projects, from the procurement of tools and cigarette butt bins to weed control, revegetation and environmental educational projects, to cultural heritage protection.

GORCC encourage all community groups, nongovernment organisations and school groups to apply and hope to see some innovative projects emerge this year.

Grant applications will close on March 15 at 5pm. For more information, including grant guidelines and the application form, head to gorcc.com.au.
