Archibald exhibition opens in Geelong

A LARGE crowd attended the official opening of the Archibald Prize exhibition at its exclusive Victorian venue – the Geelong Gallery – on September 21.

Australia’s most coveted art award, the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ 2018 Archibald Prize exhibition features 57 portraits, including this year’s winner, a self-portrait by Melbourne artist Yvette Coppersmith.

Coppersmith attended the opening along with Victorian finalists Sally Ross, Kathrin Longhurst, Anne Middleton, Melissa Grisanich, William McKinnon, Graeme Drendel, Pei Pei He and sitters Michel Lawrence and Theodore Wohng, and Archibald Prize curator Anne Ryan.
