Surf Coast graphic designer and illustrator Natalie Martin (pictured) has teamed up with Ocean Grind owner Mark Clatworthy to launch an exclusive exhibition showcasing established and emerging artists in the region.

TORQUAY coffee roaster Ocean Grind has partnered with Surf Coast artist Natalie Martin to launch an exclusive exhibition which will commemorate the talent of local creatives.

Opening this Friday and running until April 20, “Art Local” is a curated selection showcasing a diverse range of works from established and emerging Surf Coast artists.

Café owner Mark Clatworthy said Natalie approached him late last year and suggested he use his venue to display works from Surf Coast artists when local tourism is at its peak.

“We are always looking for ways to bring people together and shine a light on creative local artists and makers. We were thrilled to work with Natalie to make this exhibition happen,” he said.

Over 20 artists will have their works displayed, including Rowena Martinich, Geoffrey Carran, Pete Cromer, Andrea Shaw and Nick Morris.

Photographers Anita Beaney, Jarrah Lynch, Tal Lemmens as well as up and coming artists Tina Mose, Lucy Burke Sophie Brain will also be featured in the shared space.

Event organiser Natalie Martin said the selection has been curated to demonstrate the depth of talent across the Surf Coast.

“It’s not about showing the best or the most, it’s about giving the Surf Coast creative community a face, to build connections among one another, to benefit other local businesses and provide an opportunity to display works when the coast has an influx of visitors,” she said.

The exhibition opens this Friday from 5pm- 9pm. There will be live music from Maximillian Rudd and Asha Henfry, drinks and a food truck from the Gypsy’s Lunchbox on offer.
