THE Art of the Minds Festival will return to the Geelong region in October, with the popular mental health and wellbeing event set to be an opportunity for local artists amid the coronavirus restrictions.
Presented by non-for-profit charity Art of the Minds, president Jules Haddock said the organisation is proceeding with plans for a 2020 festival that will include additional support for venues and artists.
“The need for support has never been greater. We will be hosting an even bigger and better month-long festival with a list of new events to ensure there is something for everyone. Just like last year, we are combining education, lived experiences, arts and entertainment to creatively express and engage communities with the often stigmatised topic of mental health.
“We know that local businesses, venues and artists have suffered due to the impact of COVID-19 and we are committed to looking at ways to support and encourage them to return to the Festival in 2020. We can confirm that we have back-up plans in place should events not be able to proceed due to Covid-19-related restrictions and that we will be offering full ticket refunds should events be cancelled.”
Held throughout October and in support of National Mental Health Month, the 2020 Festival features local artists, musicians, and health professionals.
One look at the exciting mix of events and immersive activities shows why this is a festival not to be missed. With over 20 events on offer, many of which are free, it’s a celebration of all things mental health, featuring music, art and spoken word. From professional development sessions to grassroots activities, from traditional and contemporary to the quirky and unusual, the program is designed to inspire, educate and entertain.
The festival’s multi-disciplinary program is broad and innovative, offering diverse experiences, dedicated personal and professional development services, and a wide variety of immersive art, poetry, dancing and music experiences.
