Arts councillor set to open festival, and don’t miss the free bus

CITY of Greater Geelong councillor Jim Mason will open the North Bellarine Film Festival at a red-carpet reception at the Potato Shed in Drysdale next week.

The Chair of Arts, Culture and Heritage will open the event on November 16 at 7pm.

The festival will have it all: feature films, shorts, plus an experimental, animation and avant-garde program.

Films from Australia and around the world will be screening at the festival hub in Drysdale and its satellite venue in Portarlington, showcasing 39 films over the weekend.

A courtesy bus will shuttle ticket-holders to all evening films with pick up points at St Leonards, Indented Head and Portarlington.

The free bus is for evening sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday between November 16 and 18.

Liz Turner, who organises the bus service, said the festival committee understood some people didn’t like to drive at night and wanted a bus service so no-one was excluded from enjoying the diversity of their feature films.

“Travelling by bus adds to the fun,” Liz said.

“Arrive in style and critique the film with other passengers on the way home.”
