Arts Trail bonanza ready to hit Surf Coast
THE expressive and imaginative Surf Coast arts scene will be on full display for the public to see this weekend with the return of the Surf Coast Arts Trail.
Over 200 artists will showcase their best works over tomorrow (Saturday, August 5) and Sunday, August 6 for the 11th year of the annual Arts Trail.
Surf Coast Shire mayor Liz Pattison said the popular art celebration is ready to enjoy another successful year.
“It’s a great chance to visit artist studios and galleries across the shire to see for yourself how the creative magic happens.
“More than 200 artists and 58 venues will be offering a diverse range of art forms including painting, glassware, ceramics, jewellery, sculpture and textiles.
“With the Surf Coast Shire named as one of the top four creative hot spots in regional Australia, there’s a huge amount to see and explore.
“Artists are ready and eager to meet you and share their work, with bonus workshops and demonstrations on offer.”
This year’s Surf Coast Arts Trail will comprise of four zones – Aireys Inlet/Fairhaven/Lorne, Anglesea/Bellbrae, Torquay/Jan Juc and Winchelsea/the hinterland.
Cr Libby Stapleton encouraged people to plan ahead for the weekend.
“This year’s program is overflowing with local creative talent and a diverse range of mediums — from painting and ceramics, to textiles, glassware and jewellery,” she said.
“We’re also fortunate to have more than a dozen workshops and demonstrations.
“It’s such a rare treat to see inside an artist’s process and studio, so I encourage locals and visitors to make the most of the opportunity.”
The Arts Trail runs from 10am to 4pm on both days.
