Authority to encourage beach mobility equipment use
COMMUNITY members and visitors of all abilities can try out a range of beach mobility equipment at a series of events this spring and summer.
The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority will be offering equipment including hoists, beach wheelchairs and accessible parking and beach matting at the following events:
Surf Coast All Abilities Community Day – November 24 at Elephant Walk, Torquay.
Roll with the Tides: Accessible Beaches Twilight Event – December 6 at Anglesea Riverbank
Port Campbell Beach Inclusion Day – December 8 at Port Campbell SLSC.
Acting director of environment and coastal operations Leia Howes said the Authority is proud to be delivering the accessible beach program.
“This all about creating a more inclusive coastline.
“We invite both locals and visitors to join us, explore the coast, and discover how and where to access the beautiful beaches along the Great Ocean Road.”
Some of the equipment and facilities are currently available at Fishermans Beach in Torquay, the Anglesea Riverbank, Point Roadknight, Lorne Beach, Apollo Bay and Port Campbell.
