Barwon Water goes in-house for new leader
BARWON Water has announced Shaun Cumming will have ongoing leadership of the organisation as its new managing director.
Mr Cumming has held the interim title former boss Tracey Slatter left for the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) in June, and last week was appointed for a five-year term.
Mr Cumming has been part of water authority’s executive leadership team for six years and has a total of 25 years’ experience in the water industry across operations, construction, business development, program delivery and transformation.
“I look forward to building on the work we’ve already done to broaden our mindset from water utility to enabler of regional prosperity across cultural, social, environmental and economic dimensions,” he said.
“Barwon Water is uniquely placed to support a thriving community, deliver a sustainable water future and help drive new opportunities in the circular economy.
“I’ll focus on nurturing relationships, ensuring we deliver value in partnership with our customers, community, Traditional Owners and stakeholders and continue to innovate for positive change.
Barwon Water chair Jo Plummer said she was “delighted” with the appointment that was the result of an extensive and rigorous recruitment process.
“Shaun’s vision, leadership, passion and care shone through at every stage of the recruitment process, which shortlisted six outstanding candidates.
“The board is very confident that Shaun is the right person to advance the delivery of Strategy 2030 and the 2023 Price Submission to progress our commitments to our community and customers.
“I’m confident under Shaun’s leadership, our employees’ care, skill and dedication to the delivery of Strategy 2030 will ensure we progress our commitments to our community and customers.”
