Be there to learn about B Corporations

July 24, 2019 BY

Patagonia - its Torquay store is seen here - has been a certified B Corporation since 2011.

PATAGONIA, along with B Corp, Mast Lawyers and Cherished Pets, are hosting a free community event at their Torquay store as part of next month’s Geelong Small Business Festival.

Titled “Business as a Force for Good”, the event will explain what a B Corporation is and how companies can become one.

According to event organisers, business plays a critical role in solving the problems our planet faces.

B Corporation is a global certification program for ethical business practice, looking at environmental and social performance indicators as well as profit.

The growth of the purpose-driven business movement globally reflects trends in values driven consumerism.

According to the B Corporation website, 2,788 companies across 150 industries in 64 countries have the certification. Patagonia, for example, has been a certified B Corporation since 2011.

The objective of the night is to provide the local community information on B Corporations and hear from guest speakers that are involved with B Corp businesses.

Speakers will include:
• Patagonia country director Dane O’Shanassy
• B Lab Australia New Zealand executive director Andrew Davies
• Bellroy regional sales manager for Asia Richard Bolus,
• B Lab Australia New Zealand community manager Gaya Subramaniam
• Cherished Pets founder Alicia Kennedy.

The event will be held at Patagonia, 116 Surf Coast Highway, Torquay on August 6 from 6-8.30pm.

Tickets are free but limited (to a maximum of 50) so registration is essential.
