PARKS Victoria has confirmed a 450-metre-long partial beach closure beneath the Jarosite headland, between Pt Addis and Southside beaches, will remain until further notice.

A man in his 20s died on New Year’s Eve when a section of the cliffs collapsed, another man and woman also in their 20s sustaining non-life-threatening injuries at the time.

The exclusion zone extends 10 metres out from the cliffs, however Parks Victoria is asking people not to remain stationary within 30 metres of cliffs in the area.

The beach beneath Demon’s Bluff at Anglesea is permanently closed after another cliff collapse there in October last year.

A warning sign had been set up beneath cliffs near Soapy Rocks at Point Roadknight late last year by the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority, but this sign since been removed.

This week, Parks Victoria said there are no other exclusion zones in place along the Great Ocean Road.
