Bellarine cricket wraps up for the season
OCEAN GROVE defeated Anglesea in a celebrated win at Winchelsea Reserve the weekend before last, marking the end of the Bellarine Peninsula Cricket Association’s stunning season and the first premiership title for Ocean Grove in 16 years.
The cricket club took to Facebook to celebrate their revolutionary win, thanking all players and club members involved in making the victory possible.
“Congratulations to our Ocean Grove Cricket Club A Grade Team on winning the BPCA A grade premiership today,” it read.
“Sensational effort from our boys in defeating Anglesea over the weekend. Premiers we are after
a 16-year drought.
“The Ocean Grove Cricket Club would like to thank all players, members, supporters and sponsors for the support you have shown over the years. Well done Grubbers.”
Queenscliff triumphed against Inverleigh at Ellimatta Reserve (A2), Anglesea defeated Jan Juc at Bob Pettitt Reserve (B), Armstrong Creek won against Wallington at Portarlington Recreation Reserve (C1), Drysdale conquered Queenscliff at
home (C2) and Queenscliff claimed Newcomb at Collendina (D).
Despite walking away one premiership cup short, the Anglesea Cricket Club were stoked their B grade team defeated Jan Juc on home turf.
Captain Lee Edmonds lead the way, scoring 67 runs in the grand final showdown.
