Bellbrae Blues to headline event at Jan Juc
THE Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club is sure to be swaying with blues fever when Bellbrae Blues swings into town.
The October 6 event will see the much-loved local nine-piece band take to the stage to play some classic hits.
Born from the deep heartlands and backwoods of down-country Bellbrae, Bellbrae Blues has become a staple act on the Surf Coast.
The band’s repertoire spans the generations and bends the blues genre with its groovy dance spin on things.
Jan Juc SLSC fundraising and sponsorship manager Jodie Reyntjes said the event was sure to be a showstopper.
“Greg Touzel has been organising events at the surf club for many years, and this is going to be a really good one,” she said.
“We had some really great music events last year and are hoping to continue that this summer.
“Bellbrae Blues is a big ensemble, and we are rapt to have them joining us.”
Mr Touzel echoed her sentiment and said he looked forward to launching into a big surf club season.
Bellbrae Blues member Chele Barnes said the band was very excited about the occasion.
“We are just a bunch of people who love to play, and I guess didn’t have someone to play with,” she said.
“We’d like to think we are really eclectic in our style and continue to evolve in how we interpret the blues genre.
“There’ll be some blues rock, classic tunes from all decades and plenty of dancing to go around.”
A chilli con carne lunch from Feed Me will be served up from 12.30pm, followed by the Bellbrae Blues from 2pm.
Tickets for adults are $25 and are inclusive of lunch and the live music.
Music-only tickets are $10.
To assist with catering, attendees must register via the Jan Juc SLSC website.
