TWO long-serving members of the Anglesea RSL have been recognised for their many years of service.

The sub-branch held its monthly lunch on February 21 and used the occasion to present Laurel Ladies, Betty Butterworth and Rosa Cullen, with a small token of appreciation.

Ms Butterworth and Ms Cullen, both in their 80s, have been members and office-bearers of the Anglesea RSL for about four decades and have raised substantial amounts of money for returned servicepeople and the community.

However, the numbers in the Laurel Ladies group in Anglesea have declined to the point it is unable to continue, so the two women have since joined Torquay RSL to continue their good work.

At the lunch, Anglesea RSL vice-president Ian Drummond gave a short speech to thank the “two wonderful RSL members and community leaders”.
