Big Bash tickets on sale
TICKETS are now available for the Big Bash League game that will be held at GMHBA Stadium on Thursday December 19.
The game will be the season opener, with defending champions the Melbourne Renegades taking on the Sydney Thunder.
Greater Geelong mayor Bruce Harwood encouraged residents to come and support the Renegades. Mr Harwood said he hoped they could break GMHBA’s Big Bash attendance record, which is currently at just under 24,000 people.
“That would be a great way to start a huge 12 months of cricket in Geelong, with the T20 World Cup also coming to town in October 2020.”
It will be one of two games in season nine of the Big Bash where GMHBA acts as the Renegades home, as they will also play the Perth Scorchers there on January 7.
Cricket Victoria’s acting general manager of Big Bash League, commercial and marketing David Lever said the previous Big Bash games that had been held in Geelong had been very well received.
“Geelong and the wider Western region have been fantastic supporters of the Renegades over the last two years in Geelong.
“With such a fantastic venue at GMHBA Stadium, we’re looking forward to a packed house this season.”
