Birds of a Feather relay and wine together

TORQUAY’S Birds of a Feather group will be holding a wine and beer tasting evening today (Thursday) at the Torquay Surf Lifesaving Club.

The group of friends is one of the regular fundraising teams in the annual Surf Coast Relay for Life event. Team member Helen Forrest said the wine and beer tasting evening was open to the public, at $15 a head entry, and would run for two hours from 5.30pm, with nibbles provided.

The wine selection will be presented for tasting by Corks Crew Cellars, which will have bottles available for purchase.

The beer selection will be presented by local craft beer specialist Blackman’s Brewery, which will also have its selections available for purchase.

“Our group has been running a number of events and functions over the past year to help us reach our fundraising target in support of the relay,” Mrs Forrest said.

“It all goes to help Cancer Council Victoria in its programs to tackle the many forms of this disease.”

The Surf Coast Relay for Life will be held at Polwarth Oval, North Torquay, overnight on Friday and Saturday March 16-17.
