POPULAR Otways business Birregurra Grocer has secured the lease to operate the much-loved Swing Bridge Cafe in Lorne.

The 15-year agreement will see Marianne Stewart and her team bring a fresh vision to the Surf Coast venue, with an emphasis on celebrating local produce and strengthening ties to the region.

The team posted a celebratory messsage on Facebook.

“We are very excited that we have been awarded this opportunity and to be able to extend what we love doing to our favourite coast!”

Located at the mouth of the Erskine River, with sweeping views across Louttit Bay, the café has long been a favourite for both locals and visitors.

In a statement, Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority confirmed the lease was awarded following a competitive expression of interest process, which drew several applicants.

The land manager congratulated Birregurra Grocer, saying it looked forward to seeing its plans come to life at the location.
