Blackman’s Brewery hosts Commerce Torquay networking event
Commerce Torquay held this month’s After 5 event at Blackman’s Brewery, a local favourite that brews and cans all its products on-site.
Life member Les Watson said the event focused on celebrating local businesses.
“Tonight is about bringing local businesses together for networking,” he said.
“It’s a time for connecting with others.”
Commerce Torquay, operating for nearly three decades, is gearing up to celebrate its 30th anniversary with a significant event in August.
“We will have a soirée, a grand black-tie event to celebrate,” said Carmen Clifford from Commerce Torquay.
Networking events are experiencing a renaissance in the post-COVID era as people seek new ways to connect.
“With more people working remotely, these events provide an opportunity to meet face-to-face and promote their businesses,” Clifford said.
She also remarked on significant changes in local commerce over the years, particularly the rise in home-based businesses and increased business turnover.
“We also have the Torquay Business Awards coming up in November, so stay tuned,” she said.
Commerce Torquay organises networking and social events throughout the year to foster connections among local business owners and potential new clients.
The organisation is led by a volunteer Board of Directors, elected annually from the membership base.
