TORQUAY’S first beer festival is on the way and Blackmans Brewery is inviting nine of its favourite breweries to come and join the party.

The Point Break Brewery Invitational will be held on August 17 at Blackmans Brewery Torquay and give beer-lovers the opportunity to taste a selection from brewers across the globe.

The line-Up includes Behemoth Brewing (NZ), Forest Road Brewery (UK), Firestone Walker Brewing (USA), Range Brewing (QLD) and Victorian heavyweights Sailors Grave Brewing Bridge Rd Brewers, Noodledoof Brewing, Goodland Brewing and Hop Nation Brewing.

For those not fancying a beer, a local winemaker and a special seltzer bar will be on site to share the love.

Blackmans Brewery co-owner Renn Blackman said excitement was high heading into the event.

“It’s been something we’ve worked up over the years, and finally with our big beer garden space next door, we’ve got the opportunity to go for it.

“The chance to have our favourite breweries all together is really cool.

“Behemoth of New Zealand just took out the country’s hottest 100 beers last year, Firestone in the states have all-time beers, and the guys from Forest Road in England are old friends from brewing days in Camden.

“It’s going to be a full showcase of the best of the best.”

Mr Blackman said every brewery, with the exception of Firestone Walker Brewing, will have staff members personally flying over to attend the festival.

“It’ll be a pretty casual type of atmosphere and people will be able to just roam around, drink beers and chat with our master brewers.

“They’ll personally pour the beers for you, answer any questions and chat through the makings of their beers.”

Early bird tickets are on sale until Sunday, June 30 for $70.

Ticket prices include beer for the whole day (20 x 125ml tastes of each beer), plus live music and entertainment.

The event is 18+ only.
