Boost to provide more bill relief for Victorians

THANKS to a $205 million boost to the Andrews Labor Government’s Power Saving Bonus, more Victorians can receive immediate bill relief and cut their household energy costs.

Since July 1, one million Victorians have applied for the $250 one-off payment, which has provided immediate support and assisted with driving down the cost of living right across the state.

To meet the program’s popular demand, the Labor Government is adding another $205 million on top of the initial $250 million of funding, continuing to provide all households in the state with the bonus until June 30, 2023.

According to user data, Lara, Ocean Grove and Grovedale residents have been leading the way in applying for the scheme, with over 2500 households taking advantage of the payment so far.

Torquay, Belmont and Armstrong Creek also rank in the top 150 postcodes in the state, with over 2000 household applications being completed.

All Victorian households are eligible for the $250 payment, including nearly 400,000 concession card holders who previously claimed the payment under an earlier phase of the program.

“We know Victorian families are doing it tough, so we’re topping up the $250 Power Saving Bonus program to make sure no one misses out,” Minister for Energy Lily D’Ambrosio said.

“Three weeks after launching this bill busting bonus, we are proud to have supported one million Victorian households with their energy bills while helping them find the cheapest deal available.”

Households can claim the $250 payment by heading to the Victorian Energy Compare website and comparing energy offers to see if they can get a better deal, or by engaging with a participating community outreach partner.

The Victorian Energy Compare website is the only free and independent online energy price comparison service available to Victorian energy consumers.
