Torquay lawn bowls season launched

TORQUAY Bowls Club held their official season launch on the weekend.

All club members were invited, along with some special guests and government and local officials.

Surf Coast Shire Council mayor Rose Hodge also rolled the traditional first bowl of the season.

The only damper on the festive launch was news that the recent wet weather has set the first social bowls event of the season back a week to Saturday September 7.

The club has seen healthy growth in recent years, with it now looking to get support for a third green.
