A TORQUAY Nipper has completed a whopping 365 consecutive days of getting in the ocean to raise funds for his local surf lifesaving club.

Braxton Smith, 12, achieved the milestone this morning (Thursday, August 1) in foggy conditions at Torquay Front Beach.

By surfing, swimming and paddling, the St Joseph’s College student has raised more than $6,000 for Torquay SLSC.

All the funds will be directed towards buying new paddle boards for children coming through the Nippers program.

Braxton said he was thrilled to have completed the surf everyday mission.

“It’s a good feeling, I’m really stoked to have been able to do this challenge.

“To have raised $6,000 is amazing, and I’m glad it’s going to the surf club.

“It’ll help people with trainings and getting in the water. It’ll mostly go towards boards for my fellow nippers.

“I’m just super happy.”

Braxton thanked the community for their support of his challenge.

“I couldn’t have done it without all my friends, family and the surf club,” he said.

” The surf club were very supportive. It’s now been five years since I joined, so I was pretty young. I love being a part of it.

“Strapper and Quiksilver also donated to my challenge, and I thank them too.”

Braxton said he was likely to keep the board and wetsuit out and continue surfing every day for the foreseeable future.

“I’ll keep going, definitely.

“Torquay is my favourite place to surf. I love Jan Juc, too. I’ll be back out soon.”
