Bringing international flavour to The Village

December 6, 2017 BY
The Village Warralily has welcomed its first tranche of locally owned-and-run businesses.

Outlets now up and running for the official first day of the shopping centre in Armstrong Creek include Warralily Cockatoo neighbourhood café and pizza bar, Lily Blue Boutique fashion store, and the Peppered Goat healthy take-away food store, whose owners Kate Redfern and Simon Fawcett are Warralily locals.

The pair has lived at Warralily for one-and-a-half years, closer to Mr Fawcett’s home town of Torquay after having worked overseas. Their professional hospitality and chef experience includes several years working aboard private yachts.

Peppered Goat is their first business together, and they expect to employ up to 15 staff.

“We’re bringing an exciting new style of healthy takeaway but without the boring,” Ms Redfern said.

“We’re going to be slow-roasting lamb, rotisserie chicken and lots of different flavours.”

There will be a huge range of salads, from light to a substantial meal for healthy and dietary conscious person that will be available every day.

There are gluten-free options, something for the vegetarian, something for the vegan, something for the paleo, and really good coffee.

“We’ve got some brilliant international flavours so it’s quite exciting to bring them to people here. The flavours and tastes are influenced by when we lived away and discovered some stunning food.”

A lot of people lead busy lives or work in the city, so can phone ahead to Peppered Goat and place orders or pickup and dinner is sorted. Peppered Goat packs are all styled for this in mind and the idea is to all sit down together and devour.

The pair loves their Warralily home.

“We wanted to have a business here, we can see the potential, we want to hire locals. We just want to support the local community as well as have our business here,” Ms Fawcett said.

“We looked at quite a few other locations in the extended area locally but in the end, we just kept coming back to here.

“The Village Warralily is coming together really nicely, it’s a great mix of shops and it gives the locals a nice experience. It’s a beautiful space they’ve created, it’s friendly and relaxing with the seating, and the way they have visually done it is very appealing.

“We just want everyone to come in and say hi and experience great food.”
