A packed Torquay Football Club enjoyed an afternoon of laughs and football stories last weekend as former Collingwood champion Dane Swan headlined the club’s 14th annual Before the Bounce fundraiser.
More than 250 members and supporters attended the pre-game function ahead of the Tigers’ Bellarine Football League clash with Drysdale at McCartney Oval on Saturday.
The long-running event has become a fixture on the club calendar, combining fundraising with a chance for members to hear from some of football’s biggest names.
Swan, the Brownlow medallist and Collingwood premiership player renowned for his candid personality, kept the crowd entertained with stories from a decorated AFL career that included five All-Australian selections and induction into the AFL Hall of Fame.

The 42-year-old joins an impressive list of past guests, including Brisbane Lions great and Geelong assistant coach Nigel Lappin, Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell and former Geelong premiership coach Mark “Bomber” Thompson.
The event was organised and hosted by longtime club stalwart Tim Carson and continues to play an important role in supporting the Tigers’ football programs.
On the field, Torquay maintained its strong start to the season with a 35-point win over Drysdale, led by four goals from Tynan Smith.
The Tigers sit second on the Bellarine Football League ladder with a 6-2 record and will host Modewarre this weekend.
